About Legacy COOP

Legacy Coop was formed through the union of Panhandle Coop and Farmer’s Coop, bringing together two strong organizations with a shared mission: to provide top-tier services to our members, producers, and the communities we serve.

Panhandle Coop was established in 1942 with just 60 members in Scottsbluff, NE. Today, it has grown to over 20,000 members and employs more than 350 people. As a diversified company, we offer products and services across petroleum, crop production, and retail. The organization included convenience stores, vehicle services, agricultural chemicals, fertilizer plants, crop consulting, and grocery stores.

Farmer’s Coop traces its roots back to 1918-1919, when a group of visionary community members recognized the need for a grain elevator in Hemingford, NE. Over the years, the cooperative expanded significantly, with key milestones including the construction of a 220,000-bushel elevator in 1946 and the addition of storage tanks in 1959. Farmers Coop continued to expand by merging with Ag Pro in 1997.

Legacy Coop builds on the rich histories of Panhandle and Farmer’s Coop, committed to delivering exceptional products and services to our growing communities.
